Ubisoft's recent release, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, marked a return to the original elements of its long-running series, focusing on stealth and movement rather than the expansive RPG features that have recently defined it. Since its debut in October last year, fans have been curious about whether protagonist Basim might feature in future installments or DLCs. According to a recent Reddit AMA highlighted by VGC, Stephane Boudon from the development team expressed that while no DLC is in the works, the character Basim still has potential stories to be told.

Boudon made it clear that Assassin’s Creed Mirage was crafted as a self-contained story with no planned additional content post-launch. Nonetheless, he mentioned that the team has been energized by the game’s positive reception and harbors ideas on how Basim’s narrative could be expanded should Ubisoft decide to take that route in the future.

While Assassin's Creed Mirage delves into Basim's early years, laying the groundwork before his appearance in 2020’s Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the development team finds his character both compelling and integral to the series. Boudon added that the team feels there is more to explore about Basim, but also highlighted the appeal of creating new projects that provide broader creative liberties than a prequel does.

Looking ahead, Ubisoft's roadmap for the Assassin's Creed franchise includes Assassin's Creed Codename Red and Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, which are both currently under development. While the direction regarding Basim’s future remains uncertain, it’s clear his story made a significant impact on players and creators alike, suggesting the potential for his return in future narratives.
